For the last few weeks we've been stateside. Our time in La Calandria with the students ended around the first week of December and we needed to leave Mexico for our visas anyway so we have spent the last month in the Northwest visiting with our families, friends, and churches that have come alongside our family in this adventure we've been part of.
We are finishing up our time here in the states and next week will be heading back south. We leave for El Paso on the 16th of January. This is bittersweet in that we are sad to leave our friends and family here, but also we are excited to get back to work and our lives in Mexico.
We are going to be in transition (AGAIN) as we move from La Calandria back to Madera to work with the children's home there. We are looking forward to what God has for us as we "put our hands to the plow and move forward". We've had such an interesting time in Mexico; we have watched and lived God's faithfulness as we've continued to work with what is in front of us. When we left Madera the first time, I had absolutely no idea that we would be able to go back. We are so excited that God has once again, given us the opportunity to work there. Interestingly enough, we will be going back to do exactly what we had planned to do in the first place; be hands and feet. Extra hands and feet. But now we are much better equipped, if nothing else, in spanish. :) Our prayer is that we continue to be a practical help and support to the new directors there. We will also be able to come alongside our pastor and church family in Madera. So exciting!
This said; with transition comes great...well....transition. Moving is always an ordeal. I should be really good at it by now but I'm not. I'm praying that we all stay sane in the process. There is homeschooling to be done, packing, putting away, and oh my...lots of work to be done. We will be looking for a house to rent and then phone lines (for the internet and all our contacts) to put in. Great patience and hope will be involved. Then we will move into town and get to work. Our hope is that this is done by the first part of February. Vamos a ver....:) So there probably won't be very many new posts put on in the next few weeks but don't worry; in our line of work, most of the time "No news is good news". We will post as soon as we can. At least I'll have Alan stop in at the internet cafe and let you all know that we've made it.
Feel free to email us anytime and know that we will be getting back to you as soon as possible. Communication is such a common thing nowadays and even I forget that sometimes it's just not as instantaneous as I would like. We haven't forgotten you and we certainly aren't ungrateful; just a bit inaccessible...

New year....new blog site...
Hola to all of you!
We are starting fresh. As I said in the title - a new year, a new blog site. After the last couple of years we are realizing that there are a few glitches in this wonderful world of "blogging". One of which is the inability of some of our friends and family to view our previous blog due to itricacies in the internet world. Since the internet and blogging are our main ways of communicating from "here" this proved a bit complicated in trying to keep you up to date. So, we are finally making the change over. At this point we'll leave the "old" blog where it is, for history's sake. :) If you can and would like to get our previous history and story, the link is:http://www.hockinsoncommunitychurch.org/content.php?article.62
From now on, this will be the "place" where we post our newsy and newsworthy information. Now, I just need to get myself familiar with this new format. Please be paitent with me, most of my creative energy goes into living in another culture and homeschooling. I am an old dog struggling to learn new tricks...
